TX-14 Republican Candidate Randy Weber Raised $22,500 in Illegal Funds

Texas Tea Party Republican Randy Weber has raised $22,500 in illegal funds for his general election campaign in the TX-14 Congressional race against Democrat Nick Lampson. Weber has broken the law - he needs to return the funds immediately, not wait until after the election.

Federal election laws limit the amount a candidate can receive from any individual donor to $2,500 for a general election campaign. Looking through Weber's reports, it is clear that seven different individual donors have given Weber contributions that double or triple the legal limit, from $5,000 to $7,500. When it's all added up, it totals $22,500 in excess, illegal contributions Randy Weber has received from his campaign.

Here are two ways you can contact Randy Weber RIGHT NOW and demand he return his illegal contributions!

1) Email his campaign directly and tell him to return the money immediately.

2) Tweet at Randy Weber (@WeberforTexas) and tell him to return the money immediately.

The illegal contributions that Weber must return make up a significant amount of the money he had left in his account at the end of Q3:

Cash-on-Hand:           $55,040.36
Illegal $$ Raised:         $22,500.00
New cash-on-hand: $32,540.36

Progress Texas is committed to holding elected officials accountable, and Randy Weber needs to learn that he doesn't get to play by a different set of rules than anyone else. Weber is not above the law. The excess contributions Weber has received, based on his Q3 filings:

Carl Davis 9/13/12 $5,000 $2,500
